SafePal Breach Exposes Data of Nearly 40,000 Customers
SafePal, a cryptocurrency wallet provider, has confirmed a data breach affecting 39,798 customers. The exposed information includes names, delivery addresses, phone numbers and order details. The company stated that seed phrases and private keys — the credentials that control access to crypto funds — were not compromised.
While the financial assets themselves remain secure, the exposed personal details create a significant phishing risk. Attackers could use this information to craft convincing scam messages impersonating SafePal, tricking customers into revealing sensitive credentials or making fraudulent payments.
This incident is a reminder that even when core financial systems remain protected, breaches of customer contact data can still be exploited for follow-on scams. Businesses that hold customer order and contact information should review how that data is stored and consider what happens if it's exposed.
